A New York Times Bestseller Foreword by Stephen J. Dubner, coauthor of Freakonomics When first-year graduate student Sudhir Venkatesh walked into an abandoned building in one of Chicago's most notorious housing projects, he hoped to find a few people willing to take a multiple-choice survey on urban poverty--and impress his professors with his boldness. He never imagined that as a result of this assignment he would befriend a gang leader named JT and spend the better part of a decade embedded inside the projects under JT's protection. From a privileged position of unprecedented access, Venkatesh observed JT and the rest of his gang as they operated their crack-selling business, made peace with their neighbors, evaded the law, and rose up or fell within the ranks of the gang's complex hierarchical structure. Examining the morally ambiguous, highly intricate, and often corrupt struggle to survive in an urban war zone, Gang Leader for a Day also tells the story of the complicated friendship that develops between Venkatesh and JT--two young and ambitious men a universe apart. "Riveting."--The New York Times "Compelling... dramatic... Venkatesh gives readers a window into a way of life that few Americans understand."--Newsweek "An eye-opening account into an underserved city within the city."--Chicago Tribune "The achievement of Gang Leader for a Day is to give the dry statistics a raw, beating heart."--The Boston Globe "A rich portrait of the urban poor, drawn not from statistics but from viivd tales of their lives and his, and how they intertwined."--The Economist "A sensative, sympathetic, unpatronizing portrayal of lives that are ususally ignored or lumped into ill-defined stereotype."--Finanical Times Sudhir Venkatesh's latest book Floating City: A Rogue Sociologist Lost and Found in New York's Underground Economy--a memoir of sociological investigation revealing the true face of America's most diverse city--was published in September 2013 by Penguin Press

Great cosplay jacket
Size: Small, Color: Black, Size: Small, Color: Black
I bought a jacket similar to this about 4 years ago and I absolutely hated it. It was cheaply made and so shiny it could blind a nighttime driver. I needed another one because my son out grew the old one. I hated having to buy what I thought would be another cheap jacket but when it came in, I was shocked. Apparently, I bought from a different maker because this jacket was perfect. Well made. Easily ironed out the wrinkles. This turned out to be the perfect jacket for my son. He loved it. I really love it. Very happy with this purchase. Hopefully, I do not have to buy another one but if I do, it will be this brand. I have saved it in my list just in case I do need to order another. It is so nice. Extremely happy with my purchase.

Coat is very nice - - I didn't expect it to be as nice as it is!
Size: X-Large, Color: Black
This coat arrived promptly, and I am very pleased with it. Very wrinkled, but it ironed up real nice. My husband is usually in between a Size L and an XL. I ordered an L first and it was too tight, so I returned it and ordered an XL and it was too big, so I would say the sizing is spot-on. I was able to take up the sides enough that it now looks good on him. The fabric and construction seem sturdy. He is wearing it to an Edgar Allan Poe function, and I think he will look fabulous.

Good fit
Color: Light Grey, Size: Medium
A nice vest and a true slim fit. Good quality for the price and no satin back, the material is used for the whole vest, allowing it to be worn without a jacket and still look smart.
I am 6' 3" and 200lbs with a slim build, the Medium size fit like a glove, snug but not tight as a waistcoat should be.

Good Fit, Fold Lines
5'9, around 125-130 pounds, and the Small fit me just fine. Adjuster strap provides a great range of... adjustment. Good waistcoat if you are looking for something quick and cheap. With it being cheap, however, the material suffers. Due to it being folded while in shipping, there are seem lines going down the sides of the waistcoat which make it poke out and look awkward.
